Alexa Diego
Trauma Intervention Specialist
Alexa Diego, MA, LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor, and a bilingual (English/Spanish) Trauma Intervention Specialist at Resilience’s central office. Alexa is one of the first point of contacts for survivors and their families seeking trauma therapy services (one-time sessions, individual, and/or group therapy). Her primary duties include managing the trauma therapy waitlist, as well as, providing immediate crisis intervention by assessing current needs of survivors and their loved ones to determine appropriate level of care.
Alexa grew up in Wisconsin where she received her BA of Arts in Psychology with certification in Women’s Studies from Cardinal Stritch University in 2018. During this time, she interned with Mental Health America of WI where she engaged in community outreach for the purpose of suicide prevention and education, and provided art therapy to oncology patients at a hospital.
After completing her BA, she moved to Chicago to pursue her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University which she received in 2020. Her clinical work has consisted of providing financial literacy and art awareness to enhance the educational achievements and well-being of young girls of color, treating substance abuse, and working with communities of color with presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, and various forms of trauma including sexual violence, intergenerational trauma, and racial-based trauma.
