Trauma Intervention Specialist
Alexa Diego, MA, LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor, and a bilingual (English/Spanish) Trauma Intervention Specialist at Resilience’s central office on Michigan Ave. As the trauma intervention specialist, Alexa is the first point of contact for survivors and their families who are seeking trauma therapy services.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a certification in Women’s Studies from Cardinal Stritch University in 2018 and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University- Chicago in 2020. Alexa was also a member of the Adler Counseling Student Association. She comes to Resilience with professional experience in working in non-profits such as Super 7 Girls, an agency dedicated to enhancing the educational achievements and well-being of young girls of color, as well as Mental Health America of Wisconsin where the focus of her work was in the area of Suicide Prevention and Community Outreach. Her clinical internship was served at a drug and alcohol agency where she performed various assessments, managed a large caseload of court mandated adolescents and adults, and provided individual and group counseling. Her most recent post-graduate experience was working in private practice with adults who experienced depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, and various forms of trauma. Her counseling philosophy takes on a holistic approach in which she highlights the importance of multicultural competency, mindfulness, as well as trauma-informed care.
