Legal & Medical Advocate (Austin)
Bit Gebrekristos is the Legal and Medical advocate working out of the Austin location. Bit received her Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Family Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her time at Urbana-Champaign, she worked closely with the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center to create a more welcoming and tolerant environment for Black students while also working with faculty to increase Black retention rates at a PWI. She is committed to providing access to resources in marginalized communities and lessening the stigma around mental health. She is ecstatic at joining Resilience to support survivors and be a resource for the Austin community. Bit is able to provide services in English and Amharic.
