Youth Educator & Counselor
Jessica Salgado, MSW, is a bilingual Youth Educator & Counselor at Resilience, working out of the Austin office. Jess received her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from DePaul University in 2015, and her Master of Arts in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago in the summer of 2017. Jess was the first U of C intern to join Resilience’s Education and Training team. While working on her graduate degree, Jess completed the 40-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention training. Jess strongly believes that a way to combat child sexual abuse is to take a holistic approach by teaching children, parents, and communities sexual violence prevention and intervention. Jess’s roles as the Youth Educator and Counselor consists of: continuing to educate all age groups on sexual violence; initiate community outreach and create public events in order to combat sexual assault; and provide counseling services to survivors of sexual violence. Additionally, Jess plans on facilitating support groups for survivors of sexual abuse. Lastly, Jess is able to serve individuals and communities in both Spanish and English.
