Lillian Cartwright

Director of Education & Training

Lillian Cartwright is the Director of Education & Training with Resilience, where she oversees the provision of sexual violence prevention education programming in schools for staff, parents, and youth in grades K-12. The team also provides trainings and workshops designed to raise awareness and engage community in disrupting rape culture, supporting survivors, and creating systems of accountability that move us collectively closer to ending sexual violence. Lillian previously managed the Court Watch Project at the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network, where she mobilized volunteers to monitor proceedings at the Cook County Centralized Domestic Violence Court in an effort to highlight challenges within the system and provide recommendations for change. While at The Network, Lillian also oversaw the programming of the Centralized Training Institute in providing training to social service providers, public sector employees, corporate partners, and the community-at-large.  Prior to her work at the Network, Lillian served as a Sexual Assault Medical & Legal Advocate with Pillars where she spearheaded an innovative diversion program for women charged with misdemeanor prostitution-related offenses. Additionally, Lillian worked inChild Welfare where she supported families who had been referred by DCFS in remaining intact. Lillian previously served on the Board of the Safe Haven Network, an organization providing dedicated housing options for domestic violence survivors and their pets. She has also served on the Programming Committee of Chicago’s Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and as the Membership Co-Chair for the Junior Board of Connections for Abused Women and their Children. She received her B.A. from theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001.
