Trauma Therapist

Stephanie Teutli is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Trauma Therapist at Resilience’s Northside office, providing individual and group therapy to survivors and their loved ones. Stephanie has nearly a decade of experience working with survivors of sexual violence within a variety of disciplines including prevention education and community outreach, legal and medical advocacy, investigations, and therapy.

Stephanie received her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University in 2020. She holds a B.A. in Applied Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Stephanie completed her clinical internship at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center where she provided trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) to children and adolescent survivors of sexual abuse.

Prior to joining Resilience, Stephanie worked as an investigator in the Sexual Allegations Unit at the Office of the Inspector General for Chicago Public Schools. In addition to this, she worked as a Forensic Interviewer at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center where she conducted over 1,000 interviews exploring allegations of abuse or exposure to violence. Stephanie worked as a Legal/Medical Advocate at Pillars where she accompanied survivors and their significant others to court proceedings. While working as the Community Educator/ Volunteer Supervisor for the Sexual Assault Program at Mujeres Latinas en Accion, she responded to hospital calls and assisted survivors in understanding medical procedures and options, constructed and provided presentations to various community groups on topics of sexual violence, and coordinated sexual assault crisis intervention trainings for volunteers and professionals.

Stephanie utilizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered approach into her work in which she seeks to create a safe space for clients to process their experiences while also helping them improve their ability to use self-direction and increase their self-reliance. She also integrates CBT, Adlerian, and Feminist theory techniques to help clients achieve desired change. As a survivor and member of the Latinx community, Stephanie is passionate about helping survivors regain their voice and heal. She is committed to eradicating the stereotypes and stigma surrounding sexual violence and creating a culture of consent that supports survivors.
