April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). To raise awareness about sexual violence and build support for survivor-led movements to end rape culture, Resilience, along with participating organizations, is hosting events throughout April and launching the SAAM Challenge fundraising campaign. Vicarious Trauma and Resilience: Caring for Yourself through Your Body

Join us to learn practical body-based strategies to cope with the impact of SAAM. You will leave this event with an understanding of what vicarious trauma looks like and how it shows up for you, as well as an understanding of the contagious empowerment of survivorship known as vicarious resilience. Resilience volunteers will bring the prizes and bingo will be hosted by drag diva Alexis Bevel! Guests are asked to make a $15 donation to play all night, which will benefit Resilience. Breaking the Silence

Breaking the Silence is a night of poetry and spoken word performances that highlights the healing of survivors and their allies. The event will feature several featured performers including Monica Cosby, Meggi Lampen, Rebecca Aaren, Emily Kissinger, Emily Hagerty, Melissa Castro Almandina, and more! Plus, there will be open mic sign ups at the top of the show. The Resilience Trauma Therapy Team will be on hand to provide support during the performance.

Join us for t-shirt, grounding stone, and button making for Standing Silent Witness, our signature event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We’ll be making shirts for participants to wear with stories and messaging protesting sexual violence. We will also be making buttons and grounding stones for participants to hold as they stand silent witness with us on April 26. Folks are welcome to stop by throughout the day and stay for as little or as long you’d like. Refreshments will be provided.

Standing Silent Witness, Resilience’s signature event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), is a visual demonstration of the silencing of survivors of sexual violence, where participants gather silently for one hour wearing t-shirts that bear stories and messages protesting sexual violence. At the end of the hour, participants break the silence. Standing Silent Witness brings together nearly 200 participants each year.
