Public Benefits Outreach and Enrollment Hotline at Legal Aid Chicago

Our partners at Legal Aid Chicago are now operating a Public Benefits Outreach and Enrollment Hotline at 312-347-8342. You can call this number to get help applying for benefits from the Department of Human Services, including SNAP food assistance, Medicaid health coverage, and cash assistance for families with children (TANF) and the aged, blind or disabled (AABD Cash). The hotline will be able to help both City of Chicago and non-City of Chicago residents. Click here to read and download flyers about the hotline in English and Spanish.

Resilience Joins Organizations in Calling on Department of Education and White House to Suspend Title IX Rule Making during COVID-19

Resilience is one of 209 organizations and educational institutions that signed onto the National Women’s Law Center’s letter calling on the Department of Education (ED) and the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to suspend Title IX rule making until after the national emergency has ended and schools have resumed regular operations. Info Sheets: Families First Coronavirus Response Act

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act has been signed into federal law, and our partners at Legal Aid Chicago have created some helpful info sheets about the new paid sick leave and paid leave benefits under the expanded Family and Medical Leave Act. Read more in the info sheets and remember to contact your employer or Legal Aid Chicago for more guidance, as there are exceptions in the law.

Self-Care During COVID-19

Living through the current COVID-19 pandemic can be uniquely challenging for survivors and their loved ones. You may not have access to the same spaces and opportunities for self-care that are normally available, and you may experience more negative emotions such as increased anxiety and feelings of sadness or loneliness.

Important Update about Evening of Impact: Everyone Empowered

We want to share a brief update regarding our Evening of Impact: Everyone Empowered happening on April 30. We continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19, the new strain of coronavirus, and to receive official updates and information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the City of Chicago, and the State of Illinois. We will take all necessary precautions for an event of our size as advised by the Chicago Department of Public Health.

As of now, our Evening of Impact event will continue as planned on April 30. If any plans should change, we will share the update with our entire community via email, our website, and our social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Please be sure to follow these accounts and our website for updates.

Important Guidance for Attendees:
If you have cold or flu-like symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or have been in close contact with someone known to have COVID-19 or have recently traveled to or from an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19, we ask that you help prevent further spreading by choosing not to attend Evening of Impact.
