Resilience is supporting HB 3550, which would require Illinois schools to teach age-appropriate consent as a part of any sex education curriculum.

Resilience has partnered with Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF), Chicago’s largest provider of free, comprehensive civil legal aid, in an effort to assure survivors have access to civil attorneys who can provide support on legal matters that have arisen from sexual assault.

New OMMB Volunteer Shares Experiences with Learning to Stop Harassment
OurMusicMyBody recently held a training for new volunteers. One of the campaign’s newest volunteers, a student at Walter Payton High School and a member of the Stop Sexual Assault in Schools Advisory Board, wrote a blog post about the training, reflecting on the experience and the importance of educating youth to stop sexual and domestic violence more broadly. Legislative ACTION ALERT Opposing the 50/50 Parenting Bill (HB 185)
Last year we asked you to submit a witness slip to stop a bill requiring a presumption that equal parenting time is in the best interest of all children in dissolution of marriage and parentage cases. The bill has resurfaced again as HB 185.
We remain concerned that this bill would have a devastating impact on children in homes with domestic and sexual violence and other forms of abuse given the high legal standard required to challenge the equal time mandate. The bill would also negatively impact parents who cannot afford the cost of legal representation to fight the presumption and protect their children from further abuse.

ICASA’s Official Comment to Proposed Title IX Regulations
Resilience is proud to share the official comment to the proposed Title IX regulations by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA). Director of Advocacy Services Mariá Balata Trains ER Physicians on NBC 5
In a video on NBC 5 on January 23, 2019, Director of Advocacy Services Mariá Balata gave a new training to emergency physicians at Rush University Medical Center. The training, which was a custom 4-hour training for Rush designed and delivered by Balata, will help physicians better care for survivors and collect evidence to prosecute perpetrators of sexual violence.
